When you are cold, why should you go stand in a corner?
It's 90 degrees!
Bio
Hello, I am Ms. Sally Lunsford, one of your go-to people for all things math (and yes, that includes the secret to loving numbers). With degrees in Elementary and Special Educations plus 20 years of experience, I am on a mission to turn “I hate math!” into “Math is cool!” by showing that math isn’t just about numbers—it’s about fun, problem-solving, and maybe even a few dance moves while learning.
When I’m not helping students defeat the mighty foes of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the mysterious fractions, you’ll find me cooking up a storm (hopefully without setting off the smoke alarm), diving into a good book, exploring new places (and my hometown area of Covington County), or getting lost in a bit of history. I love learning about the past—just don’t be surprised if I start sharing fun facts mid-lesson! And of course, I’m always enjoying quality time with my family—who may or may not think I’m extra!
I’m known for my love of dad jokes and math songs (don’t worry, I won’t subject you to too many… or will I?). I believe math is everywhere—whether it’s counting the cookies in the jar or calculating how many minutes until recess. My goal is to make math feel like a game, where everyone wins—and yes, there might be prizes... like extra recess time!
And don’t worry, I’ll never leave you stuck on a problem. If you can count to 10, you’re already on your way to becoming a math whiz—just a few more steps to go!
"Most of my work as a math teacher isn't even math. IT'S HELPING STUDENTS BELIEVE THAT THEY CAN ALSO DO MATH. We don't talk about that enough."
